How to manage secrets
Last updated October 14, 2026
Overview
Secrets let you store sensitive values, such as API keys and other credentials, securely in Atlas. Each secret is a key-value pair: a key that identifies the secret and a value that is entered in a masked password field. Keeping credentials in "Secrets" helps you control sensitive authentication data in one place instead of sharing it in plain text.
Secrets are a global setup: an Admin manages them once for the whole workspace.
Key Features
- Key-value storage: Store each credential as a key and a value.
- Masked values: The value is entered in a password field, so it is hidden while you type. Use the show/hide icon in the field to check what you entered.
- Secrets list: The "Secrets" page lists each secret with its "Key", "Value", and "Created on" date, and includes a "Filter..." search.
- Delete with confirmation: Remove a secret from the Actions menu on its row and confirm with "OK".
