How to auto-assign customers to accounts by email domain

Last updated October 13, 2026

Who can use this feature?
Admins only.

Overview

Auto-assign links new customers to the right company account automatically, based on their email domain. Instead of manually opening every new customer record and selecting an account, Atlas matches the customer's email domain to the account that uses that domain, so new customers land in the correct account with no sorting needed.

Auto-assign is a single toggle in the data automation settings. Once it is turned on and saved, it applies to new customers across the workspace.

  • Instant confirmation: Atlas shows the message "Updated Automation settings." when the change is saved.

FAQs & Troubleshooting

Why wasn't a new customer linked to an account?

Common reasons include:

  • The auto-assign toggle is off, or the change was not saved. Check for the "Updated Automation settings." confirmation after clicking "Save".
  • No account has the customer's email domain mapped. Add the domain to the account.
  • The customer was added before auto-assign was turned on.

Does auto-assign apply to existing customers?

The demo describes auto-assign for new customers. Whether existing customers are linked retroactively is not confirmed.

Is this setting per agent?

No. It is a global, workspace-wide setting configured by an Admin.
